An investigation by the Guardian revealed that the millions of customers using Wi-Fi or wireless internet hotspots through their smartphones are vulnerable to identity theft and fraud.

Security experts conducted several tests with volunteers to avoid being accused of violating computer laws and breach of telecommunication laws. The tests were able to gather the phone messages, passwords and usernames of people using Wi-Fi in public places.
