How can you delete your data once it has been accidently sent out to the wrong recipients?

Recently 3 Uk Councils have been fined for loosing data. 1 of which was by emails sent out to the wrong people. The fault however was noticed as soon as it was sent however the sender had no way of destroying the data which they had sent out to more than 200 email.
